1st Lucas Device Training
Julie and I have set up Wednesday, Sept. 30th 7 – ?? for our first training on the Lucas device. We wanted to get at least as many as we can be trained on it so we can put it into service. I realize that this time of year may not be best for everyone, but try to make it if you can. We will set up another time for additional training for those that miss it on Wednesday.
At this point only EMS & Paramedics can actually operate/use the device. That does not mean that EMR’s and Firefighters don’t need to learn how to operate. Julie and I were discussing that as long as anyone has a Health Care Provider – CPR card we recommend they learn how to use this device. Because they are qualified to help with the process, as long as they are under the supervision of an EMT/Paramedic. (And most likely they will not be on scene with this device without one.) Probably the only thing we would request them not to do is operate the buttons, but as far as preforming CPR, aligning, helping placement of Lucas and lifting we should be operating under our protocols.
If you do not have a current CPR class come anyway. ( I believe there will be another CPR class before the EMT class starts.) If nothing else you will learn the “mechanics” of the process.
